Catch Up: Part 2

 Fast forward four years!

Many things have changed in my life.

In April of 2023 I experienced an ectopic pregnancy. As horrible as that ordeal and the grief that followed was, my husband and I both felt like someone was still missing from our family.

March 2024 we found out we were pregnant with our rainbow baby. The first trimester was TOUGH. We anxiously awaited an ultrasound at 8 weeks that would confirm that pregnancy was in the right place this time and not another ectopic. Once we knew we were in the clear for that, we found ourselves waiting another four weeks as my doctor monitored a cyst on baby’s umbilical cord, all the while morning sickness was really kicking my butt. A lot of staple foods that got me through my other pregnancies, like crackers and toast, were no longer quite as available living gluten free.

Moving into the second trimester, we started to see an increase in the amount of amniotic fluid surrounding baby. At first it was relatively mild for polyhydominos, but by the third trimester was much more elevated. Due to the excess fluid, my pregnancy was monitored pretty closely (weekly ultrasounds and bi-weekly appointments) the remainder of my pregnancy. We were pretty reassured that no abnormalities with baby were causing the fluid, and we never did determine any cause!

All things considered, I really felt pretty good during the last trimester of my pregnancy. I did not experience the same strange symptoms I’d had with my daughter, which we determined was probably a combination of low iron and medication side effects. From 19-39 weeks I actually walked on either my little walking pad at home or outside for 30 minutes every day. Since staying active through my pregnancy was a major goal, I felt pretty proud that I stayed consistent with walking and eating well.

Baby boy, our fourth and likely final, joined the family on November 8th 2024. Our hearts have been truly full through this season! My husband and I now have a nine year old, seven year old, four year old, and our little eight week old baby.

I spent the first month of babies life focused on breastfeeding little dude, feeding myself regularly, and trying to re-learn how to function on very little sleep! Recovery wise, I have been feeling pretty good!

Which is why…I feel like I’m ready to start pouring some love back into taking care of my body! My husband is actually on board this time, both of us hoping to focus on loosing a few pounds and being active daily. I’ve chosen to use Noom again, which is both daunting and exciting.

That mostly sums of the last five years! Been a bit of a rollercoaster really, but I found writing about my experience very beneficial the first go around.

Here I go again!
